In the famed East Village neighbourhood of New York City, Moxy East Village draws from various eras of the neighbourhood’s vibrant history. Juxtaposing the grittiness of underground culture, the rebellious spirit of art, and the glamour of rock and roll, each floor reveals different layers of New York’s urban archaeology in a non-linear timeline.
Graffiti tapestries and check-in desks composed of found objects by local artist, Michael Sanzone, greet you upon arrival. A flexible lounge space of eclectic furniture sits among Skeeball machines and a styled collection of 80s memorabilia – VHS tapes, cassettes and vintage radio TVs. Adjacent to the lounge, a tucked away bar references a backstage music lounge, hidden behind velvet drapes and with an organ pipe bar. Cozy banquettes wrap along the concrete walls hung with vintage, graffiti-tagged mirrors.
